Movement Building

Environmental justice advocacy is traditionally undertaken on a local scale with advocates working alongside residents to defeat an environmental threat, while not directly addressing the systemic causes of environmental injustices.

CRPE is flipping this model to scale-up grassroots organizing and advocacy to challenge the power systems that lead to inequalities in the first place.  We currently work closely with and support several community groups in the San Joaquin Valley.  Along with building grassroots leadership, we also partner with groups at the state and national levels and participate in several coalitions.

In addition to partnering with community residents and ally organizations to build power and change, over the past 35 years, CRPE has helped dozens of environmental justice committees, coalitions and organizations establish their own entities through assistance with incorporation, fiscal sponsorship and other technical support.  These groups are included but not limited to: Allensworth Progressive, Central California Environmental Justice Network (CCEJN), Central Valley Air Quality Coalition (CVAQ), Comite Progreso de Lamont, Committee for a Better Arvin, Committee for a Better Shafter, Community Water Center, Delano Guardians, Greenfield Walking Group, LA COLONIA, LOUD for Tomorrow, VISION Coalition.

ENGAGE

Generous support from you allows us to do our grassroots, community-led work better. A donation to CRPE goes directly to improving health, building power, and growing resistance "from the ground up" in environmental justice communities in California's San Joaquin Valley and beyond.
