Toxic Free Communities

The Toxic Free Communities campaign focuses on protecting public health and creating safer environments for communities across the San Joaquin Valley.

Through Toxic Free Communities, we work with community residents to strengthen public health and safety, hold polluters and agencies accountable, and achieve clean land, water, and air through prevention and cleanup efforts. In collaboration with our community partners, we work to reduce the use of the most harmful pesticides through advocacy at the local, regional, and state levels. We also stand with communities fighting toxic waste facilities and push for stronger environmental justice and civil rights protections in statewide policy. At its core, the Toxic Free Communities campaign is about protecting people where they live, work, and raise their families, while making sure every community has the right to a safe, healthy environment free from toxic harm.

Projects

Pesticides

CRPE supports communities in working with local and state agencies to develop and implement Community Air Monitoring Plans and Community Emissions Reduction Plans (CERPs).  We also work closely with local and state agencies on advocacy for harmful pesticide sprays and regulations around notifications.

Toxics

CRPE monitors what hazardous waste projects are proposed in our communities, including continued oversight of the Delano plume vapor extraction and progress toward remediating ground water.   Continued oversight on Delano Plume vapor extraction unit & progress toward remediating groundwater.
