Inhalers for Environmental Justice
Are you a California resident who lives near oil and gas production? Do you suffer from asthma and have an empty inhaler you could donate?
Despite Governor Brown’s reputation as a climate leader, he has approved over 20,000 new oil wells during his 8 years as Governor. 77% of these wells are in low-income communities and communities of color.
California’s oil addiction is an environmental justice crisis. Jerry Brown has failed to stand up to Big Oil and protect Californian communities. As a result, 5.4 million Californians live within a mile of an oil well, exposed to toxic air & harsh health impacts.
The Center on Race, Poverty & the Environment is collecting empty inhalers from folks who have been impacted by oil and gas. We will use your inhalers to show Governor Brown that his inaction has real health impacts for Californians, and demand he end oil drilling in our communities by creating a 2,500 health & safety buffer.
